Glossybox April Review, The Creative Larder

I vowed that 2017 would be the year which I start to take my skincare routine a little more seriously, as the road to 30 is less than a year away, and it's a well known fact that skin doesn't get any younger.

After taking a break from spending copious amounts of money on makeup and skincare when I lived in London a few years ago, in January I decided to take the tiny plunge and commit to a beauty box or two. I was fed up of my non-adventours beauty shelves looking bare and running out of shampoo and conditioner mid-shower.

Whilst I've been stuck in a rut of committing to the same makeup look for the past two years, and the banishing of products which I'd collected for almost a decade, in a bid to make my morning routine much cleaner and less stressful. On the odd day I was feeling adventurous with my skincare routine or makeup look, my collection was lacking. This alongside the urge to discover some new staples for my committed skincare regime was the perfect opportunity to sign up to a monthly at home delivery of delicious smelling and exciting products.

Most of the subscription companies give you the option to create your skin, hair and colouring profile when signing up. I'd made the mistake of missing out this option with another brand I'd signed up to in January, and found myself with some products that just weren't for me. So if you're just in the process of singing up to a new beauty box, make sure you take the time to fill out your profile to reap the full benefits of your beauty box.

Glossy Box April, Elgon Deliwawash Shampoo and Conditioner

April is my first month with Glossybox and this month, there's four full sized products and one miniature.

Elgon Deliwash Cleansing Conditioner £14.50

Whilst I'm not normally one for a shampoo/ conditioner combo, mainly because I never feel like my hair has been washed properly and it's often left looking dry and limp, as I've learnt in the past, don't judge a book by its cover. Elogon's Deliwash is free from sulphates and other not so friendly ingredients that you will often find in mainstream shampoos. It's one of the reason's this product doesn't foam up as much when massaging into your hair, but stick with the instructions to wet hair, massage, leave for two minutes and rinse for light, clean and soft locks which smell uh-mazing!

Merci Handy Love and Hand Cleansing Gel, Glossybox April Review and unboxing

Merci Handy in Lollipop, Love and Hand Cleansing Gel £2.90

Hand cleansing gels aren't just for muddy festivals, mum's on the go and city-folk, they're the perfect handbag accessory, and have been for several years since the beginning of the 21st century. Most gels leave yours hands feeling like they have a film of plastic over the top and strip moisture out, but Merci Handy ensures delicious smelling and beautifully moisturised hands, thanks to bacteria- bursting ingredients and tiny pearls which burst on application. The smell lingers for quiet a while, and smells delicious. It's quite sweet, as it's name would intend. It reminds me of an old perfume I used to wear, but I can't quite put my finger on it. At £2.90 per bottle, it's well worth a pop.

Glossybox UK April, ModelCo Contour Pencil

ModelCo Contour Stick £17

ModelCo is a brand that's growing on me quickly, thanks to not only Glossybox, but also another monthly beauty subscription which I signed unto in January. I'd always associated ModelCo as quite a young brand, perhaps because of the packaging? However some of their products are amazing, and I haven't looked back since starting to use them. April's Glossybox delivers their contour stick, which pretty much looks like a chunky crayon.

To use, simply swipe under your cheeky bone, blend and buff. As with quite a few of their products, they're super pigmented and transfer onto the skin with little effort, so when starting out with their contour stick, build as you go, as you don't want to be walking around with unblended orange lines under your cheek bones, come summer 2017.

Radial Glamolash Mascara in Glossybox UK April edition.

Rodial Glamolasr Mascara XXL £24

Rodial has really made a name for itself on the beauty market over the past few years. My first introduction to the high end beauty brand was when I worked with Stylist Angie Smith a few years back. Angie had actually worked with Maria Hatzistefanis, founder of Rodial on several occasions, and our beauty cupboard in the studio was laden with products, from face masks through to Dragon's Blood and Snake Booster Serums.

This month, Glossybox has delivered Rodial's Glamolash Mascara which promises supersized but soft lashes and a long-wear. To use, wiggle the wand from root to tip and repeat for added volume.

SportsFX Double Time Brush Buffer + Powder Duo £10.99

This double ended beauty brush is perfect for anyone starting your makeup-brush collection or applies makeup on the move. It's multifunctional, and perfect for buffing and blending your foundation, and applying bronzer, blush and highlighter!
